PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk reproducing apparatus that warns a user about the occurrence of abnormal conditions of reproduction when a bit rate of video data recorded in an optical disk is higher than a maximum transfer rate of an optical disk reading apparatus. SOLUTION: The optical disk reproducing apparatus that has the optical disk reading apparatus which reads the video data recorded in the optical disk and that reproduces video based on the read video data, has a calculation unit that calculates the bit rate of the video data recorded in the optical disk, and a report control unit that lets a reporting unit report an error when the bit rate calculated by the calculation unit is higher the maximum transfer rate of the optical disk reading apparatus.
