PRINTING PAPER AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide printing paper having excellent stiffness and opacity by an inexpensive means on printing paper having a low basis weight. SOLUTION: It is found that addition of a substance having excellent rigidity to a surface part receiving large deformation by bending in order to improve rigidity increases resistance to bending and sufficiently improves stiffness of printing paper. Base paper is coated with a treatment agent containing sodium silicate. The printing paper has a relatively low basis weight of 37-55 g/m2, opacity of≥90% and stiffness (length) of≥37 cm3/100 in terms of 45 g/m2. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
