PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair which makes it possible to easily and rigidly attach a back plate to an upper part of a backrest support rods while positioning and temporarily holding the back plate. SOLUTION: On a front face of the back plate 14 in a backrest 7, a recessed part 16 recessed rearward and opening downward is provided, a pair of right and left holding parts 22 opening downward are provided to project downward in a step part 15 formed on the upper side of the recessed part 16, the back plate 14 is held by fitting the right and left holding parts 22 to an upper end part of the backrest support rods 10 inserted to the recessed part 16, and the back plate 14 and the right and left backrest support rods 10 are fixed by screws in the recessed part 16 in the lower part of the both holding parts 22.
