PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a controlled component for a vehicle which detects data inconsistency about data received from an external device (e.g., ECU). SOLUTION: An NOx sensor controller 10 (controller of the controlled component for the vehicle) controls an NOx sensor 20 (controlled component for the vehicle) based on data received from an ECU 30 (external device). The NOx sensor controller 10 includes a determination means (microcomputer 11 performing a process at step S1) for comparing the reception data newly received from the ECU 30 with existing valid data that are obtained already and currently valid to determine whether or not the reception data have data inconsistency that makes a combination inconsistent with the existing valid data.
