A water purification device comprising: a raw water supply line; parallelly disposed membrane modules which filter the raw water; supply channels which are each branched from the raw water supply line and connected to the raw water inlet of each of the membrane modules; on-off valves which are each provided to each of the supply channels; a reverse wash water discharge line which is connected to the on-off valves; a permeation water transfer line; and transfer channels which are each branched from the permeation water transfer line and connected to the permeation water outlet of each of the membrane modules. Thus, provided is the water purification device which is compact, has high filtration ability, and can stably supply a specific amount of permeated water. A method for operating the water purification device is also provided.
