The noise produced by a transformer &c. is deadened by securing plates 15 to the outer wall of the transformer tank 1 and providing a layer of sound-absorbing material 2 on a diaphragm 10 disposed between 1 and 15, there being free space 12 between the sound-absorbing material 2 and the plate 15. The plates 15 are secured to vertical and horizontal reinforcing beams 14 on the tank wall using strips 16a, 16b and 17 and rings 18 of elastic material which provide an air-tight seal.</p> |
