The engine has sliding sleeves (16, 17) including a differential piston-like pressure stage at an outside diameter of sleeves that are moved by a hydrostatic pressure application. An opening stroke of the sliding sleeves is carried out via the hydrostatic pressure application. A closing stroke of the sliding sleeves is carried out by a spring force working on the sliding sleeves. The hydrostatic pressure application is initiated by pistons (1, 2), which are implemented as a tappet operated by a cam.
