PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve successful printing by reducing deterioration of the printing without using special hardware configuration when print data with much memory usage is printed. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a memory amount measurement unit 102 which measures a used memory amount for every page of the print data; a used memory amount decision unit 103 which determines whether the used memory amount exceeds a threshold of an allocated memory; a block division unit 104 which divides each page of the print data into blocks when it is determined that the used memory amount exceeds the threshold; a block specification unit 105 which specifies a large block whose memory usage is larger than those of other blocks among pages whose memory usage exceeds the threshold; and a block exchange unit 106 which determines an exchange block from other pages to exchange the large block with the exchange block.
