1,056,479. Bag filling apparatus. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 6, 1965 [Dec. 23, 1964], No. 52268/64. Heading B8C. In apparatus for simultaneously filling a bag or sack and placing it in an enclosure, the bag body is supported outside the enclosure, while its mouth is clamped above the enclosure, so that, as the bag is filled, the weight of the contents causes the bag body to slide over the top of and into the enclosure. In the embodiment, a pivotable clamp 3, to which a polythene bag 4 is attached, when in the position of Fig. 1, is pivoted down until it is directly above a clamp 2, from which a jute sack 1 is suspended, Fig. 2 (not shown). In this position, the body of the bag 4 is arranged across the mouth of the jute sack and is supported by a plate 5 attached to the clamp 2. The bag is then filled through a spout, the spout either being movable with the clamp 3 or being situated directly above the clamp 2. The filling preferably takes place in two stages, the weight of the first discharge being sufficient to drag the bag into the sack, Fig. 3 (not shown), while the second discharge takes place after the bag is correctly positioned, Fig. 4 (not shown). Both clamps are then released. |
