<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device, achieving improvement in fixing performance and miniaturization by specifying the direction of a tip part. <P>SOLUTION: The fixing device 100 includes: a cylindrical fixing film 110; a heating element (a halogen lamp 120); a nip plate 130; a reflector 140; and a backup member (a pressure roller 150). The heating element is a heater formed by enclosing gas (halogen gas 123) and a heat source (a filament 122) in a glass tube 121, and the tip part 124 formed when enclosing the gas is provided in the glass tube 121 to project outward in the radial direction from the surface of the glass tube 121. The tip part 124 is disposed to point in a predetermined direction so that the size L1 of the sectional form of the glass tube 121 including the tip part 124 in the opposing direction where the nip plate 130 and the heater are opposite to each other is made larger than the size L2 of the sectional form in the direction orthogonal to the opposing direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
