摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing a high strength iron based sintered compact by establishing the most suitable conditions in sintering treatment and carburizing treatment for increasing the strength of an iron based sintered compact. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a high strength iron based sintered compact, the surface of iron based powder containing Mn as a prealloyed element by≤0.3 mass% and Mo as a prealloyed element by 0.2 to 1.0 mass% is diffusively stuck with Mo by 0.05 to 0.5 mass%, also, graphite powder of 0.3 to 0.5 mass% is mixed therein so as to be alloy steel powder, a lubricant for compacting is mixed by≤0.6 pts.mass to 100 pts.mass of the alloy steel powder, so as to be mixed powder, and the obtained mixed powder is subjected to compacting, is thereafter sintered at≥1,200°C, is further subjected to gas carburizing quenching treatment at a quenching heating temperature of 850 to 900°C, and is next subjected to tempering treatment.
