PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding machine with a display by which the amount of overlapping of beads can be easily made constant to improve welding quality regardless of worker's experience, and to provide a welding method using the welding machine. SOLUTION: The welding method uses: a welding machine (1) that performs welding along a weld line while beads are overlapped by reciprocating the tip end of a welding torch (14) in a direction nearly vertical to the weld line; and an oscillate pitch meter (26) that displays a result by calculating the lapping amount of the beads (oscillate pitch P) from a welding speed (v) of the welding machine advancing in the weld line direction, a weaving width (Ww) of the welding torch reciprocating in the direction nearly vertical to the weld line, and a weaving speed (Wv) of the welding torch advancing in the direction nearly vertical to the weld line.
