The device has a component i.e. steering element housing (1), provided with an internal thread (13), and another component i.e. adjusting screw (5), provided with an external thread, where the external thread is provided with thread sections (14a, 14b) with different thread leads. One of the thread sections exhibits an upward gradient corresponding to an upward gradient of the other thread section. The adjusting screw is provided for adjusting a play of a thrust piece (4) in the steering element housing and fixed at the housing by interference of the thread sections. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a vehicle steering comprising an adjusting screw (2) a method for adjusting a play of a thrust piece in a vehicle steering.
