Disclosed are: a diagnostic agent for infectious diseases, which can discriminate different bacteria species from each other and can achieve measurement and/or create an image in a non-invasive and simple manner within a short period; and a method for screening for a therapeutic agent for microorganism-mediated infectious diseases. Specifically disclosed is a diagnostic agent for infectious diseases mediated by microorganisms having nitroimidazole sensitivity, which comprises an imidazole derivative or a fused imidazole derivative each having at least one nitro group on an imidazole ring or a labeled product of the derivative as an active ingredient.
