METHOD TO GENERATE AIRPORT OBSTRUCTION CHARTS BASED ON A DATA FUSION BETWEEN INTERFEROMERTIC DATA USING SYNTHETIC APERTURE RADARS POSITIONED IN SPACEBORNE PLATFORMS AND OTHER TYPES OF DATA ACQUIRED BY REMOTE SENSORS

PURPOSE: A method for generating airport obstruction charts based on a data fusion between interferomertic data using synthetic aperture radars positioned in spaceborne platforms and other types of data acquired by remote sensors is provided to reduce the production and updating times of a new AOC(Airport Obstruction Chart) and avoid the suspension of the airfield operations during remote acquisition of terrain and obstacle data. CONSTITUTION: A method for generating airport obstruction charts based on a data fusion between interferomertic data using synthetic aperture radars positioned in spaceborne platforms and other types of data acquired by remote sensors comprises the steps of: converting pre-existent analog data of the surveyed areas to digital format: vectorizing the data; analyzing data existing in digital format; generating a Digital Surface Model which is the input data structure to be used by the Land Change Detection Algorithm, in raster format; comparing the initial Digital Surface Model with the new data acquired in a later epoch; comparing the base Digital Surface Model with the altimetric data structure derived from interferometric data obtained from the Synthetic Aperture Radars positioned in spaceborne platforms; registering and georeferencing the Digital Surface Model; cutting the image to ensure that all the surveyed area is correctly identified; resampling the raster models to be compared with those obtained between the initial and latter epochs, in order to present the same number of pixels either in line or column, representing the same surveyed area; detecting land changes in order to compare the elevations in both digital surface models obtained from different epochs, to produce a third raster model; overlaying the raster images of the objects considered as obstructions with the Airport Obstruction Chart in vector format; newly validating obstructions; disseminating the new Airport Obstruction Charts to the relevant authorities.
