PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a region necessary for setting a temperature sensor that detects a temperature of an electro-optical device. SOLUTION: A plurality of pixel circuits P including pixel circuits PA for display and pixel circuits PBa for detection are formed on the surface of an element substrate 10B. A wiring 52 and a wiring 54 are formed on the surface of the element substrate 10B. The pixel circuit PBa for detection includes selection transistors qB (qB1, qB2) electrically conducting a signal line 14 and the wiring 52 when a scanning line 12 is selected. The on-current of each selection transistor qB varies in accordance with the temperature. A detection current IMNT for detecting the temperature corresponding to a current Im supplied to the signal line 14 from the wiring 52 by way of the selection transistor qB of the pixel circuit PBa for detection is output to the wiring 54.
