PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To boil rice by easily improving the state of the boiled rice when the state of the boiled rice is deteriorated and the taste is lost with excessive water put into a rice cooker. SOLUTION: The rice cooker includes a pot 1, an input unit 5 including a rice cooking start switch for starting the rice cooking operation, and a control unit 11 for controlling a heating device 3 for heating the pot 1 from the temperature of the pot 1 detected by a pot temperature detection unit 4 for the rice cooking operation. The control unit 11 stops heating of the pot 1 when the temperature of the pot does not rise to a prescribed temperature at least in a prescribed period of time during the boil-up step, and executes a rice cooking sequence against early switch-off stored in a storage unit 7, in which a plurality of rice cooking sequences are stored, when the rice cooking start switch is pressed in an other prescribed period of time after the end of the rice cooking step. With this structure, abnormal termination of rice cooking caused by excessive water put into the pot can be avoided by such a simple operation as pressing the rice cooking start switch, and the state of the boiled rice can be improved to that of eatable rice by executing an additional sequence.
