PURPOSE: An apparatus for preventing recording of image data using output terminal of a graphic card and a method thereof are provided to prevent the illegal copy of an image data. CONSTITUTION: A player monitors the reproduction of an image data or the image data is being reproduced(S100). If an image data detected, it is checked whether an external device is connected to an image output terminal of a graphic or not(S200). If an external device which is connected to the graphic card is detected, the recording operation is restricted through the player(S300).
