PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time for releasing cutoff spring force by a mechanism for operating a switchgear so as to shorten an open pole time as a whole. SOLUTION: The switchgear includes a roller pin 72a attached to a tip of a latch lever 72, a solenoid lever 54, and a latch 91 having a tip 102 rotating around a rotation axis of the solenoid lever 54 at a position different from the rotation axis of the solenoid lever 54, and engaged with the roller pin 72a. In shifting from the closed state to the cutoff state, the solenoid lever 54 is pushed and rotated by an electromagnetic solenoid for cutoff 21 so that the solenoid lever 54 is rotated in an opposite direction to a biasing direction of a solenoid lever return spring 54a, and the latch lever 72 is rotated by biasing force of the roller pin 72a to release engagement between the roller pin 72a and the tip 102 of the latch, which causes a cutoff spring to discharge its energy to rotate the latch lever 72.
