The device has an electrical component i.e. semiconductor switch, producing heat due to power dissipation. A cooling body exhausting the heat to a surrounding medium is heat-conductively connected to the component. A sensor detects an angle of inclination of the device. An electronic circuit is electrically connected to the sensor, and is designed to influence the power dissipation of the component dependent on the determined angle of inclination. The body has cooling fins are arranged parallel to each other and a cooling finger arranged in a regular lattice structure. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an electrical device.
