1,226,030. Separating hydrocarbons. INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE DES CARBURANTS ET LUBRIFIANTS. 5 Dec., 1968 [6 Dec., 1967], No. 57866/68. Heading C5E. In a process for extracting aromatic hydrocarbons from a liquid mixture 1 of aromatics and more saturated hydrocarbons by countercurrent contact, at 2, with a liquid organic solvent 3, which may contain up to 0À4 part by wt. of water per part of solvent, an extract phase 5 is fractionated, e.g. extracted, at 6, and at least a part 26 of extraction solvent 8 for recycling to the zone 2 is contacted in an extraction zone 18 with raffinate 17 in the presence of water 19 in an amount between 0À7 and 100 times the weight of solvent, the solvent being thereafter recycled, via 21, 16, to the zone 2. The unit 6 may be replaced by a distillation plant. The mixture of water and solvent at 21 may be passed either through an evaporator 14 by line 23, or through a water washer 10 for an aromatics/re-extraction solvent mixture 9, prior to recycling via 16. Solvents mentioned are dimethylsulphoxide, ethylene glycol, sulfolane, methyl carbamate, and N-methyl pyrrolidone. |
