PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can be easily set by a user and prevent occurrence of failures because there are many parameters which should be specified by the user in IPsec or IKE, and if even one of the parameters is not matched, communication is disabled. SOLUTION: A transmitting side communication apparatus proposes in IKE all combinations of encryption algorithm, hash algorithm and DH (Diffie-Hellman) groups to a receiving side communication apparatus and starts negotiation. The receiving side communication apparatus selects one of the combinations.
