PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a notification apparatus including a function capable of reliably reporting the location of oneself without requiring two-way communication. SOLUTION: A reporting apparatus can be configured as a remote control apparatus. The apparatus includes: an optical sensor 11 for detecting lightness around the apparatus; a notification circuit 13 which performs a predetermined notification for reporting the location of oneself; and a sensor IC 12 for controlling the notification circuit 13 in accordance with the detection results of the optical sensor 11. Then, when it is determined, according to the results of the detection by the optical sensor 11, that the lightness around the notification apparatus is darker than a predetermined level, the sensor IC 12 allows the notification circuit 13 to operate and perform a notification.
