<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible menu system to a user operating an electronic menu relating to an optical storage medium. <P>SOLUTION: A menu may contain buttons (INV1 to INV4) which can be selected through keys on a remote control but are not associated with any image or text. This allows creating "invisible buttons" that automatically execute commands upon selection, and a sound or sound sequence, e.g. a melody or a click sound, can be associated with a predetermined button state to be played back when the button enters this state.
