The purpose of the present invention is to provide a cement composition that achieves an adequate curing-retarding property even at high temperatures. The present invention is a cement composition characterized in containing a polymer that has a carboxylic acid (carboxylate) group having a heat degradation temperature of 250ºC or higher, and cement. The present invention is also a cement curing retarder characterized in containing a a polymer having a carboxylic acid (carboxylate) group having a heat degradation temperature of 250ºC or higher.
