PURPOSE: An operating method of a wireless data communication apparatus and set top box are provided to properly modify a radio direction according to a communication environment. CONSTITUTION: The signal strength of a direction which is designated as a comparison object is compared presently with the signal strength of a present direction(S120). A comparison object direction is designated according to a signal direction list(S170). If the signal strength of a designated direction is greater than the signal strength of a present direction, a present direction is changed into the designated direction(S140). The signal direction list is updated(S150).
