<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device allowing presentation of a realistic natural image to an observer. <P>SOLUTION: A depth information acquisition part 11 obtains depth information attached to original image data 22. A partial image data acquisition part 12, based on the depth information, generates partial image data 23-1 and 23-2 for each hierarchy defined based on the depth from the original image data 22. A superimposed image data generation part 13 treats object data 24 to generate image data 25-1 and 25-2 of images, wherein an object of the size matching the hierarchy is placed, as superimposed image data for the respective hierarchy. An image superposition processing part 14, for each preceding step of a plurality of pieces of partial image data 23-1 and 23-2 placed in the hierarchical order of the depth information, superimposes the superimposed image data 25-1 and 25-2 of the same hierarchy.
