摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of almost equalizing the brightness of an original image read in different original read modes. SOLUTION: The image reader includes: a gain adjusting means for adjusting, to a target value, first output in which a first original read means reads a third white reference plate and outputs it, and second output in which a second original read means reads a second white reference plate and output it; and a correction means for correcting data for shading correction or a correction coefficient to be multiplied with image data before or after shading correction, in which the first original read means reads the third white reference plate and the second original read means reads the second white reference plate, according to the read mode by three pieces of data that are first and third read data for correction in which the first and third white reference plates are read by the first original read means adjusted by the gain adjusting means and second read data for the correction in which the second white reference plate is read by the second original read means adjusted by the gain adjusting means.
