<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a crossover of fuel, to enhance power generation characteristics and a power generation efficiency in a direct oxidation type fuel cell, by controlling the permeability of the fuel in an electrolyte membrane. <P>SOLUTION: This direct oxidation type fuel cell has at least one cell provided with: a membrane-electrode assembly including an anode, a cathode, and the electrolyte membrane arranged between the anode and the cathode; an anode side separator contacting with the anode; and a cathode side separator contacting with the cathode. The anode side separator hass a fuel flow passage for supplying the fuel to the anode, and the cathode-side separator has an oxidant flow passage for supplying an oxidant to the cathode. The electrolyte membrane includes an ion exchange resin, and an ion exchange capacity per a unit volume of the electrolyte membrane is smaller in the upstream of the fuel passage than that in a downstream thereof. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
