PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission chain and a method for assembling the same, suitably securing a clearance between links arranged in a chain width direction even when link plate thickness is uneven. SOLUTION: A link pressing jig 47 having a tilted pressing surface 47a is used, and a link L1 in a lowermost layer and a link L2 in a layer just above it are tilted with respect to a link supporting surface 43a of a pin retaining jig 43, and after that, the same link pressing jig 47 or a link pressing jig 45 having a horizontal pressing surface 45a is used, and thereby, links LH are sequentially press-fitted. The tilted link L1 in the lowermost layer and the link L2 in the layer just above it are elastically deformable, and are used as cushion layers for absorbing the load during press-fitting of the links, and the respective links LH are press-fitted while controlling the positioning.
