PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cord which is low in shrinkage, excellent in dimensional stability, has improved heat resistance, comprises polyethylene naphthalate fibers, and is used for reinforcing a hose, and to provide a hose using the same. SOLUTION: The cord produced by twisting polyethylene naphthalate fibers and used for reinforcing the hose is characterized in that the polyethylene naphthalate fibers have a crystal volume of 550-1,200 nm<SP>3</SP>obtained by X-ray wide angle diffraction and a degree of crystallization of 30-60%. The polyethylene naphthalate fibers preferably contain phosphorus atom in an amount of 0.1-300 mmol% per ethylene naphthalate unit, and contain a metal element. The metal element is preferably at least one or more metal elements selected from the group of Zn, Mn, Co and Mg. The melting point of the polyethylene naphthalate fibers is preferably 285 to 315°C.
