PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power supply device, which is quick in response to a change in an output voltage and is miniaturizable and reduced in cost. SOLUTION: For this switching power supply device, the operation reference voltage of a control circuit 3 is at the same potential as a junction between a switching element 2 and a coil 5 being an energy converting circuit. In such power supply, an output voltage detecting circuit 10 includes a rectifying circuit 8 which turns the output voltage into a voltage signal that is rectified to the operation reference voltage terminal of the control circuit 3, and a voltage current converter 9 which is connected between the input terminal of a current detecting circuit 7 and the rectifier 8 to convert the rectified voltage signal into a current signal. The current detecting circuit 7 is of the sampling type which samples a current signal applied to the input terminal of the current detecting circuit 7 and detects a current.
