[Also in Division C1] An anion exchange resin particle has a macroreticular structure and has an average pore diameter of 10,000-500,000 Š and is used to remove colloids from a liquid. The resin may be prepared by copolymerizing styrene and divinyl benzene in the presence of an aqueous mixture of a dispersing agent (ammonium salt of styrene maleic anhydride copolymer), gelatine, tert.-amyl alcohol and azo-bis-isobutyronitrile; the polymer in the form of beads are screened (20-70 mesh, U.S. standard) and chloromethylated and aminated: the pore size of the product ranged from 30,000 to 200,000 Š. |
