Exposed photographic silver halide lith material is developed using a hydroquinone/formaldehyde bisulphite lith developer in the presence of a polyethylene oxide condensate and thiourea, an alkyl derivative of thiourea or a heterocyclic nitrogen compound containing a mercapto group attached to a cyclic carbon atom adjacent to a heterocyclic nitrogen atom. The ethylene oxide condensate and the thiourea or mercapto compound may be in the developer but are preferably both in the lith material, e.g. in the emulsion or supercoat layer.
