Manufacture of electrical insulators (I) made from or covered with glass fibre matting (II) impregnated with 20-35% wt. of mixture of a thermosetting organic binder resin (III) and an inorganic filler (IV), containing 80-150, pref. 100-120 pts. (IV)/100 pts. (III), where (III) = (a) conventional, low chlorine content epoxy resin pref. cured used (purified) aromatic amine; (b) conventional, rigid, unsaturated polyester; (c) a thermosetting silicone resin; (IV) = powdered glass or oxide(s) of Al, Mg, Zr, and Si, particle size 10-30 microns. Insulation of electrical components in high energy accelerators or other applications where high energy beta and gamma radiation encountered.
