PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a change in a use environment of an imaging apparatus without relying on an exclusive element or operation of a user. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus which can be used under at least two environments with different optical refraction indices includes a motion vector detection means for detecting motion vector data from an image signal from an imaging means, a shake detection means for detecting a shake applied to the imaging apparatus, a gain correction value changing means (S508) for changing a gain correction value of the shake detection means based on the motion vector data, a shake correction amount calculating means for calculating a shake correction amount in response to the change of the gain correction value, an image shake correction means for correcting an image shake by correcting the shake on the imaging means by driving a correction lens based on an output from the shake correction amount calculating means, and a determination means (S510-S513) for calculating the change of the refractive index of the correction lens from a change rate of the gain correction value and determining the change in the use environment of the imaging apparatus.
