The device has an automatic handling unit (1) holding a ceramic element to be cleaned, where the ceramic element is moved and displaced in X, Y and Z directions (15-17). An immersion tank (2) is provided with a cleaning fluid i.e. distilled water, and an immersion oscillating device (5). A metal plate (3) provides and removes the ceramic element. The immersion tank comprises chambers. The metal plate is provided with openings i.e. holes. A drying device e.g. gas burner (11) or blower (12), is arranged below the metal plate. An independent claim is also included for a method for cleaning ceramic elements i.e. honeycomb ceramic elements.
