PURPOSE: A display apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to process a 3D image signal through software configuration when the 3D image signal is inputted. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a display apparatus comprises the steps of: inputting a video signal(S100); judging whether or not the image signal is a 3D image signal(S110); deducing a new vertical blank section within an active section(S120); generating a synchronous signal corresponding to the deduced vertical blank section(S130); and displaying the inputted signal in an image format through the synchronization to the generated synchronous signal(S140).
