PURPOSE: An array substrate for a liquid crystal display device having an improved aperture ratio is provided to increase the capacity of a storage capacitor and increase the aperture ratio. CONSTITUTION: An array substrate(50) for a liquid crystal increases the capacity. A thin film transistor is connected to a data line. The thin film transistor is connected to a data line and a gate line within each pixel region. First and second shield patterns are formed to the edge of the gate line. A protective layer is formed to expose a drain electrode of the thin film transistor.
