PURPOSE: A display apparatus for improving the clearness of an image and an image processing method are provided to adjust the gain of a brightness value of a pixel in which the inclination variation in brightness exceeds a critical value for an image of which clearness is improved. CONSTITUTION: An image processing unit(120) processes an input image to improve the clearness of the input image, and adjusts the gain of a brightness value of a pixel in which the inclination variation in brightness exceeds a critical value for an image of which clearness is improved. The image processing unit includes a clearness improvement unit, a detection unit and a gain adjustment unit. A display unit(130) displays the image processed in the image processing unit.
