The method involves determining a composition value of the fuel mixture from the consumption of fuel mixture in the no-load operation of an internal-combustion engine. Another composition value is determined from the process of a pumping flow as a function of the lambda value of the exhaust gas of a broadband lambda sensor. The broadband lambda sensor is arranged in the exhaust gas of the internal-combustion engine. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining the composition of a fuel mixture of two different fuels for operating an internal-combustion engine.
