PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing a tetraaminobenzene derivative synthesizable in a high yield, and an intermediate thereof. SOLUTION: This production method comprises reacting a 1,4-bis(dibenzylamino)-2,5-dihalogenobenzene obtained by the benzylation of a 2,5-dihalogeno-p-phenylenediamine with an aromatic amine in the presence of a Pd catalyst to form a 1,4-bis(dibenzylamino)-2,5-diaminobenzene derivative represented by formula 3 (wherein Bn is a benzyl group; and Ar<SP>1</SP>and Ar<SP>2</SP>may be the same or different and are each a phenyl group, a 1-naphthyl group, a 2-naphthyl group, a 1-anthracenyl group or a 2-anthracenyl group) and further debenzylating the obtained 1,4-bis(dibenzylamino)-2,5-diaminobenzene derivative.
