PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the attaching/detaching work of a rear wheel by obviating the need for attaching/detaching a rear cushion and a disk brake, in a rear wheel attaching/detaching structure and method of an automobile allowing the rear wheel to be attachably/detachably fit from the lateral direction on a driving member rotating accompanied with an engine. SOLUTION: A front end part 34a of a torque rod 34 is vertically swingably connected to a swing arm 9 through a front connecting shaft 54 along the right and left direction. A front connecting part 56 connecting between the front end part 34a of the torque rod 34 and the swing arm 9 permits the outward swing from the torque rod 34, so that the torque rod 34, a caliper bracket 33 and a brake caliper 32 swing up to the position where the rear wheel 8 can move to a right arm member 9b side.
