PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the transmission delay of an image signal. SOLUTION: Based on the write timing obtained from a synchronizing signal contained in the image data of one frame input serially, image data is written in a memory. Out of the image data of one frame, the image data of every n lines are read in order, starting from the first line, until the maximum number of lines of one frame is reached. Subsequently, the image data thus read is divided for each line to have the one-half length, and the image data divided for each line are arranged alternately while aligning the vertical line thus obtaining divided image data consisting of n divided images. The n divided images are output in parallel in order starting from the first line. An image signal obtained by serially converting the n divided image data which are read from the memory and input in parallel is output using the transmission standard of either 3G HD-SDI format or HD-SDI dual link format.
