Solid enzyme complexes - prep by activating a clay support and then reacting with enzyme

Solid enzyme complexes are prepd. by fixing an enzyme (hydrolase, transferase, oxydase, protease, invertase etc.) to a preactivated support which may be baked clay (brick) crushed then screened, crushed screened glass, glass beads, resin or other organic polymers, e.g. polysaccharides (dextrans, cellulose, starch) where the activator (0.01-10 pref. 0.1-1 ratio to support) is cyanogen halide, thionyl halide or sulphuryl halide (pref. chloride). Contact time is 30 mins - 2 hrs. The enzyme is securely linked to the support and is not liberated during reaction.
