A device for culturing and transportation of cells for therapeutic purposes is disclosed. The device has a base (1) with an outer wall, a ring (2) to hold a membrane (5) taut and a lid (4). The base (1) includes a cell-housing device with a wall at the sides and bottom, an area for media exchange being contiguous with the housing device and a groove for a silicon gasket (3) running external to the housing device. At least one notch is formed in each wall of the base (1) to interact with snaps on the lid (4). Methods for using the devise to culture or transport cells contained in the device are also disclosed.
