The press (1) has a direct drive (18) designed as a top or bottom drive and aligned in a press longitudinal direction or in a press transverse direction. A stator (4) of a segment motor (2) is frame-fixedly connected to the press, and a rotor (3) of the segment motor is arranged on a pivotable and/or rotatable shaft (6) of the press or integrated into the press. The shaft is designed as an eccentric shaft or a shaft with an eccentric disk or a counter shaft, where the counter shaft is coupled to the eccentric shaft or the shaft with the eccentric disk by a reduction stage.
