The invention relates to a method and a device for generating electric energy, wherein in a fuel source, a product is derived in an endothermic process from a charge material containing carbon and hydrogen, and subsequently, is directly or indirectly conveyed as fuel to the anode side of a fuel cell. The heat generated in the fuel cell is conveyed to the fuel source for maintaining the endothermic process.
