PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively raise a temperature in a cooking chamber to a set cooking temperature in a preheating process in a steam cooking mode of a heating cooker. SOLUTION: In a controller 70 of the heating cooker 10, in the steam cooking mode, operation of a steam generator 40 is controlled such that an interior of the cooking chamber 11 becomes the predetermined cooking temperature on the basis of a detected temperature of an internal temperature sensor 13 as the preheating process, the operation of the steam generator 40 is controlled such that the interior of the cooking chamber 11 becomes the predetermined cooking temperature on the basis of the detected temperature of the internal temperature sensor 13 as a heating process after the preheating process, and in the preheating process of the steam cooking mode, when the set cooking temperature is not achieved within a predetermined time, the heater 20 is controlled to operate at the same time in addition to the operation of the steam generator 40 by a preheating auxiliary heating means.
