A central arm rest is designed such that it can be completely lifted out of a cutout in a seat and then reinserted upside down. A graduation in the cutout and a hat-brim-like jutting out of the central arm rest have the effect that the latter sits completely in the cutout in one position and lies flush with the seat, but in the other position, in accordance with its function as a central arm rest, protrudes from the cutout.
